Compact Supercomputer (cs -1 TFLOPS)

Compact Supercomputer

As a part of the development of SpbTUas National Research University the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics have bought two Compact Supercomputers built by закуплено две компактные суперЭВМ производства RUSSIAN FEDERAL NUCLEAR CENTER-ALL-RUSSIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS.Performance of these supercomputers is above 1 tFLOPS. Compact Supercomputers are involved both in research activities of department and in education process. Particularly, 6-years students of Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics use the Supercomputer for laboratory work execution on course “computing on multicore computers”. What’s more, computers are using for conducting calculation, carried out in Center for scientific and technical creativity of the youth (SCY).

Compact Supercomputer is a versatile multiprocessor computer, which has scalable cluster MIMD-architecture with allocation memory and supports sets of commands for computing numbers with fixed and floating-point and logical data in 64-bit architecture х86. It doesn’t require for its maintenance special engineering system. Compact Supercomputer has following features:

  • peak performance — 1,1 TFLOPS;
  • quantities of CPU cores — 144;
  • processor — 1,9 GHz;
  • RAM — distributed from 2 to 8 GB per core;
  • throughput of memory 170 GB/sec;
  • parallel file system, with capacity from 12 to 24 TB;
  • system of Network topology — InfiniBand QDR 40 Gbit/sec;
  • LAN — Ethernet;
  • power consumption - 2,2 kW (depends on configuration);
  • overall size (mm) — 700 х 600 х 320;
  • weight (kg) — ~ 40.

Compact Supercomputer provides development, debugging and execution of applications, which are written with C, C++, Fortran-90 that were using MPI, Open MP (OMP) tools in serial and single- and multi-using mode.
