Virtual laboratory > Heat transfer in a 1D harmonic crystal > periodic temperature

Describtion

This page is an extension of the page Heat transfer in a 1D harmonic crystal. The program below allows two possibilities to set the initial temperature:

  • random: the initial particle velocities are set by a random number generator;
  • periodic: the initial particle velocities are set as a short-period sinusoidal wave.

Simulation: evolution of the spatial distribution of the kinetic temperature
